Diamond Heist

Ever have a dream where you're just watching the action, but you're not really there? That is what this dream was like. I felt very close to one of the characters but it definitely wasn't me.

A helicopter Flies over the museum and lands on the roof at 2am. This is a Stealth-Chopper which makes no noise and goes unnoticed even to the homeless men on the steps of the giant building. Five men jump out and start working with little hand held gadgets that seemingly disable the security system without the armed guards noticing. One man breaks into the building, going straight to the closed circuit security camera room and demobilizes the guards with a hypodermic needle full of something. He quickly puts the camera feed on a loop and radios to his teammates that all is clear. The rest of the team enters the building keeping an eye out for the patrolling guards.

They knock out the rest of the guards and enter into a large room that contains a giant Marquis Diamond about the size of a dump truck. It is surrounded by bullet-proof glass from floor to ceiling and the only entrance (for polishing the diamond of course) is through the ceiling. The team breaks out their copy of the museum's floor plan and reviews their entry plan. After a few deft movements, one of the team members emerges from the entrance in the ceiling. Using the handheld device to disable the separate security in the "Marquis Room" he rides a climbing rope down to the floor. Two other team members follow suit and the three of them work on securing a large harness around the diamond. About this time, the ceiling opens up and four ropes fall down from the hovering helicopter.

In another part of the building, a female security guard wakes up from her nap in the souvenir shop and hears the men shouting and the clanking of metal as they secure the harness. She readies her sidearm and stealthily moves into the security camera room. Being a less than apt museum employee, she is unable to switch the cameras off of the loop and when trying to call the police she finds that the phone lines have been cut. Her cell phone has no signal. Seeing the unconscious guard on the floor of the camera room, she knows she is all alone. She takes his gun and ammo, the extra ammo from the cabinet, and decides to find the perpetrators so she can report to the authorities.

As she rounds the corner to peek into the Marquis Room, the team of men are climbing up the ropes and boarding the helicopter. They will get away if she doesn't act quickly. Not knowing what she is doing or why, she makes a mad dash for the diamond and jumps into the harness. The helicopter silently carries away the diamond and its stowaway.

"What now?" She thinks to herself. Wedged between carbon and canvas, she realizes she is probably hundreds of feet in the air and all she has to protect herself when she lands is two pistols that she can't even shoot well. She peeks out over the edge and sees that they are headed towards the forest just outside of town. What has she gotten herself into? How can she alert the authorities before they kill her? The cell phone! She digs into her pocket looking for it and dials 911. "Hello? Yes, I'm a security guard for the Museum of Natural Science and I need to report that the Marquis Diamond is being stolen! We are moving South West towards -- Yes, 'we', I am stowed away in the helicopter -- Yes, I am an employee of the Museum! No, listen I need you to get the police to follow exactly where I say -- I assure you this is not a prank. Please! At least send some people to the museum to check. WELL WOULDN'T IT BE BEST IF YOU JUST CHECKED? YOU DON'T WANT THIS ON YOUR HEAD, LADY!" The operator hangs up. Unsure if anything would be done, she calls her boyfriend. "Hey honey! Not to upset you or anything, but I'm in a bit of a bind. -- Yeah, I'm OK for now, but I need you to listen for a minute." She tells him the situation and he gathers up some friends and guns and heads in the direction of the helicopter.

The chopper slows and starts to descend beside a warehouse. The security guard knows exactly where they are. She decides that as they reach the ground she will jump out and head for some nearby bushes. She sets her phone to vibrate and waits for the right moment. A few feet from the ground, she jumps and runs. She waits in the bushes and watches as the men slide down the ropes to direct the diamond onto a large wheeled platform and release it from its harness. Looking around for landmarks, she sees nothing. Texting her boyfriend, she alerts him of where they are and tells him she is safe. He texts back that he has called the police and alerted them of her whereabouts. She tries to catch a glimpse of the faces of the men. They are too far away and she must only remember their height and build. One man appears to have an Italian accent and another has a very clear tattoo of a marquis diamond on his shoulder. The other men could be anyone.

They push the giant diamond into the warehouse, close the door and two men with automatic weapons stand guard. Unable to move, the museum security guard waits patiently for the police to arrive.

Ahh, the dreaded alarm clock. I suppose the police may have arrived after some time. Or perhaps her phone might vibrate, rustling some leaves and alerting the men of something in the bushes. The world may never know.

Snippets of a Dream

The following dreams occured after my alarm went off this morning. The first after the first alarm and the second after the second alarm.

Dream one: Enviromentally Appropriate Transit

So I am riding a bike along Kingston Pike in Knoxville, TN. Everyone is on a bike. It's the newest form of exercise combined with transportation. Very fuel efficient, very environmentally sound. The whole city has slimmed down due to the abolition of motor cars. I must say I am pretty hot as a size 8. Only emergency vehicles are allowed to run on ethanol. As I come up to a traffic light, I can hear sirens, but not where they are coming from. People begin moving their bikes to the shoulder and I follow suit. After the Fire Truck passes, everyone goes back to their places and begins pedaling toward their destinations. As I take the next on ramp to the interstate, there is a handicapped man who has overturned his wheelchair on the sharp turn. I stop and help him back into the chair. We start talking as we continue our commute. The man is kind and funny and just as he is about to ask me out....

Dream Two: When it Rains, the Apartment Floods

I am half asleep in my bed. Laying on the top bunk of a bunk bed, my daughter is trying to wake me. I brush her off and she falls off the bed. *Splash* "That was weird," I think as I groggily pick my head up and look around. It is raining in the apartment. I hop off the bed into knee deep water and wade into the kitchen. There is a large basin filling with water and pots and buckets strewn about. The layout of the apartment seems unfamiliar and I suddenly realize I'm dreaming! Now this has happened to me before and I have managed to wake myself up by trying to open my eyes as wide as I can. This opens my eyes in real life and I wake up. Well this time, as the water rapidly rises and Rebecca now has her swimsuit (with the nifty built in flotation chamber) and her swim ring on I am trying desperately to wake up. "Is this a dream?" I think. "Are we going to drown for real?" I can't wake myself up, so I assume the worst and head toward the door in search of rescue. As I open the door....

"Mommy! Mommy! wake up!" Ever since she was born, her voice never fails to wake me. Thank goodness it was a dream!

Recurring Nightmare

This is a disturbing nightmare that I've had once before. I wasn't going to post it because it involves a couple that I know and it's really quite unsettling. I have decided that because I had the dream again it was worth posting. I am omitting the names for obvious reasons.

I am riding through the mountains in the passenger side of an SUV. I am a detective for the FBI and my partner (played by my step dad) is driving. As we drive through a secluded wood over a dirt path, we come across a flooded creek. There is no bridge, but the water looks shallow enough to drive through. As we slowly creep through the water, it rapidly rises and begins filling the SUV. Soon we are floating down the river and through some violent rapids. Why we do not sink or get stuck on the rocks and trees is surprising to me. Finally, we wash ashore near a small town hidden in the trees.

It is the town we are looking for, a somewhat popular tourist attraction for lovebirds. There have been several murders in this town but the community is so close, no one is willing to condemn anyone else. The perpetrator we are tracking is raping and killing young women in their 20's. These women all have fiances and all were last seen with them. After doing some basic detective work we seem to be hot on the trail of our killer. Even figuring out who his next target may be. As the bed and breakfasts have been shut down due to the bad publicity, we deduct that the killer will be after a local couple (the second local woman in the string of murders) and we follow her at a safe distance.

After some commotion involving a fire at the local dive bar, we lose sight of our bait. The couple are gone and as we scramble to find them, we come across a small outdoor chapel area. The man is sitting on the altar, facing away from us, rubbing his head. The woman is nowhere in sight. The man is disoriented, bewildered and bawling. I walk the man back to his car as my partner searches for clues of the woman's whereabouts.
As we walk through a narrow passage, we see a figure ahead carrying a large load. The man takes off towards the figure and I follow, gun drawn. The figure drops his burden and takes off into the woods. We come up to the woman, she is naked and smeared with blood. Even more bewildered the man falls to the ground beside his love, trembling. I check her vitals as my partner comes from behind and passes in pursuit of the killer. She is gone. I call the local sherrif for backup and EMTs for the mourning fiance.

As we wait for help, the man springs up and back toward the chapel. I am unsure whether to follow him or stay with the body. I decide to follow at a distance, but just as I lose sight of him through the narrow passage, I hear a gunshot. He has taken his own life with a small revolver from the woman's purse. He had purchased it for her as protection when this fiasco began. It could not protect either of them.

I have not yet been able to see this killer detained. Towards the end of the dream I am always somewhat aware that I am dreaming. If I have the dream again, I hope to take some control and stop the couple from being killed. It is really disturbing to me because I actually know the people in the dream. Even some of the previously murdered women are my friends.

Sex and Football

Now I know I'm not the only one who has dreams about having sex with strangers. Last night's dream was somewhat strange due to the fact that the sex was with a stranger, but the cuddling afterward was definitely with my husband. Considering my husband has been gone for a week, it was kind of nice to cuddle with him. I will refrain from posting details about the sex though. In all honesty it was all really a blur.

Somehow the cuddling in bed morphed into a blanket outside. With a giant screen showing a football game. Suddenly we were surrounded by other people watching the game. I thought it odd that we were here, considering neither my husband or I like football. I actually like football a good deal more than he does, in fact. On the blanket to the right of us was the couple who hosted our wedding and to the left was Peyton Manning. Somehow, in the dream, Peyton was my best friend. I happen to like Peyton Manning so this didn't surprise me until I woke up. At 4am. I couldn't get back to sleep, nomatter what I tried. I'm convinced Peyton was haunting my dreams last night.

Dragon's Disease

Once upon a time there was a bright red dragon that lived in the land of China. One day this dragon decided to go for a swim. The dragon soon decided he wanted to reach the deepest depth of the water so he could walk on the bottom. So he swam down until he reached the sea floor, and he started walking. But soon he discovered the floor upon which he walked was not the deepest depth. On and on he walked until he found a tunnel in the floor. He swam into the tunnel in search of the deepest depth.

For years and years he swam through this tunnel. Along the way he began to change. His feet and hands became webbed, his back grew a spikey fin and the end of his tail flattened and thinned. The more he changed, the faster he could swim. On day in the tunnel, the dragon decided to take a rest in a pocket along the tunnel. He came across a fish he had never seen before, and decided to ask its name. The fish would not talk to the dragon but instead bit him and swam away quickly. Discouraged, the dragon went along his way. Upon reaching the outlet of the tunnel, the dragon soon realized that the floor of this sea was now behind him, and he could see light up ahead.

The dragon looked at himself. He was no longer the bright magnificent red he was in china. Being in the dark for so long bleached his beautiful scales. Although they were still iridescent, they were clear as blown glass and bordered on translucent. It took him a while to get used to this. He had been bright red his entire life and losing his magnificent color made him angry and sad. But eventually he accepted his new look and decided to swim up toward the light.

He emerged from the water in a small town in the United States. He didn't recognize it immediately but knew for sure he was not in China any longer. The body of water was surrounded by houses, many of them with docks stretching out with boats attached. It was night and while there was a bright full moon ahead, there were very few lights on near the houses. The dragon had been in the water for so many years, he decided to investigate the land. It was a little wobbly at first, but eventually he gained his land legs and started wandering up to the first house.

Upon reaching the house, the back door swung open and a man came out. The dragon recognized him as a man, but he was much bigger than other men he had seen. This man was just as big as the dragon, and the dragon didn't like it. The man pulled out a cigarette and began to smoke. The dragon waited patiently in the shadows and then slinked into the house as the man returned inside. After he was sure the man was not coming back, he tucked his tail in close to him and began to look around. He found the living room and the strange black screen on the wall. He found the bathroom and wondered why have water inside when there is a whole lake right out the back door. He found the kitchen and was amazed at the boxes of food in the cupboards and the containers of liquid in the refridgerator. Suddenly, he heard a noise directly behind him. A young girl, my daughter, came into the kitchen and upon seeing the figure of a dragon screamed quite loudly. The dragon retaliated, bit the girl on the hand and quickly found a place to hide. Almost as quickly, my husband and I came into the kitchen to calm the scared child. The bite on her hand looked more like a snake bite than anything else and because she insisted there was a dragon in the kitchen, I took her to the ER while David looked for the snake.

David searched the cabinets in the kitchen and found no snake. He looked behind the appliances and even in some of them to no avail. After deciding for sure that the snake was no longer in the kitchen, he moved onto the next room. He searched under the couch, in the cushions, behind the entertainment center, but no snake. He opened the door to the linen closet and the dragon jumped ontop of him, bit him square on the nose, and ran through the back door, leaving a large hole in our house.

At the hospital, the doctors were befuddled. They agreed that it looked like a snake bite but that the teeth marks were too far apart and the fact that the went completely through the child's hand meant either a giant snake or something else. Meanwhile, Rebecca's health began to deteriorate. Once David arrived, bloody nose and all, he concurred with Rebecca's conclusion of dragon. The doctors added delusional to their list of symptoms.

Soon enough more and more people came to the hospital claiming they had seen a dragon and suffering the same symptoms as my child and my husband. The doctors were confused that every single patient that came down with these symptoms claimed the exact same thing. A six foot figure of a dragon with fins and a flattened tail. Some had even seen it slink back into the lake after attacking. The police were called in and a sketch artist rendered a few drawings based on descriptions. These were released to the media and people were warned about locking their doors and staying inside once the sun was down.

After a couple of days, almost the entire town was quaranteened inside the hospital. A few of the doctors who had not left the hospital decided to hunt down this dragon in order to produce an antivenom and cure the town of the dragon's disease. After recruiting some of the men who had not been sick for long, they armed themselves, went out at night and hid in various places around the lake. And waited. The dragon had only seen a few of these men set up with their big sticks around the lake. He thought he had avoided them, but upon emerging from the lake, he was tackled by two large men and wrestled to the ground. They stabbed the dragon a few times, but he was too strong and escaped back into the lake.

The dragon was outraged. He had already been scared by so many of the people in this town and now they were attacking him outright. He decided to stay in the water until his wounds healed and then he would make his revenge.

The men took their knife back to the hospital lab and the doctor's produced the antivenom. For some reason, though, injection was not working. They tried topical application, ingesting the serum, and finally I suggested that perhaps breathing the antivenom would be the key to the cure. So the doctors agreed and began preparations to put the serum through the ventalation system.

I went back into the room where my sick husband and daughter lay only to discover that my child was no longer in her bed. She had been too sick after all this time with the venom in her system to get up and walk out. David was still asleep after receiving the previous tests so he couldn't have seen where she went. I searched the room first but found nothing but a wet trail. I followed the trail, questioning everyone in my path. An announcement was made that anyone not suffering from the dragon's disease to leave the wing. I grabbed my shotgun out of the room and followed the trail outside. I didn't know where it would lead me, but it was the only clue to where my daughter was. A few other people noticed me tracking and after explaining my situation they agreed to help me find my child. The trail led us all the way to the lake and dropped off at the water's edge. It had occured to me that the dragon could have taken my daughter when I first found the trail, but this confirmed it. I ran to my house, grabbed my scuba gear and dove into the lake. I had only a knife to protect myself.

The following words echoed in my head:

"Do not take for granted the gifts you have been given."

And then I woke up. I desperately tried to deny the fact that I had woken up and tried failingly to go back to the dream to find my daughter. I knew that I had been dreaming and that my daughter was safe at that point, but I still wanted to go back to the dream and rescue her. I really don't think I take her for granted, but I guess my subconscious needs to warn me from time to time.

Grand Theft Auto: The Musical!

Starring the High School Drama Club???
Seriously. I'm not even kidding. Unfortunately I don't remember much of the plot, but I felt like the cast was worth mentioning. (please note that all character descriptions were what the person was like in my dream, not what they are like in real life, neccessarily.)

Main Character: Bone (Just your average guy, except for the incredible wit)
His bestfriend: Scott (was actually kinda goofy, clumsy, but somehow loveable)
^ girlfriend: Me (IDK, scott, my subconcious still has a crush on you I guess)
The bad guy: Zhubin (kinda like a bad guy from the bond movies. Very professional.)
The sleezy sidekick: Jeanette (I know you aren't sleezy in real life. This dream was weird!)
Hot (as in stolen) Car Dealer: Joe (everyone loves Joe!)
Business guy #1: Brad L. (Somewhere along the line helped Bone steal something valuable (a diamond maybe?) whilst killing lots of people and cars, and eventually getting away from the police.
Corrupt Police Chief: Kyle (who wasn't corrupt until the end)

The lesson learned from this dream adventure? I need to play alot less Grand Theft Auto in my spare time!

Turkish Delight

For the past few nights I've been having some really really strange and extremely vivid dreams. This last night's dream was something out of an action movie. It went a little something like this: (I write in the present tense, as someone somewhere along the line told me that recalling dreams in this way was the correct way to do so. Can't remember who, can't remember where.)

I am running away from something. Not a person but more like people. An organization of some sort. Kinda like the mob. They must really have it in for me because things are blowing up all around me. I am heavily armed, bullet proof vest and all. This place is a war zone. It looks like I am in the historical part of some semi-large city. Houston, maybe. Does Houston have a mob? Anyway, I'm ducking in between houses and shops and meet up with someone. I know him, he is my partner. He looks like "Turkish" from the movie Snatch. Jason Statham (imbd is my friend). So Turkish and I are running for our lives and we come across a bank. We go inside and randomly decide to rob this bank. With all the chaos going on outside, the bank tellers and rent-a-cops have abandoned their posts and the vault is wide open. There also just happen to be large bags handy for our disposal. So we load up two bags each and go out the back. There is a helicoptor waiting for us. How the helicoptor pilot knows we are there is surprising, but how the helicoptor is still in one piece considering all the half-buildings behind it is a miracle! Turkish goes to board the helicoptor when he gets shot in the back. Thank goodness for bullet proof vests! So I shove him in and shut the door and tell the pilot, "GET THE HELL OUT OF HERE!!" And he takes off. Bullets are coming from everywhere and as I look out the window, a Stinger Missile is headed right for me. My husband's alarm goes off.

And isn't it just handy that I didn't have to experience death in my dream? It's like my body knew exactly when the alarm was going to go off. It makes me wonder if the alarm had not sounded, would I have even remembered the dream? Or if it had been set for five minutes later, what would have happened? Maybe we would have barely evaded the missile and paid off the mob with our stolen bank money and headed off to the Pocano Islands. I guess we'll never know. I sure wouldn't mind a little Island time with Turkish, though. :)

Creation

I posted a dream on my other blog and was about to post another dream when I just decided to start a new blog. I have some really funky dreams and somehow I think it would be fun to share them. :) So I will post my first dream from the other blog now and then the new dream. The madness may never end once I get started!
